An ode to autumn

A poem I wrote during LA.

The leaves blow past,
A rainbow of colors,
the crisp wind blows sharp and fast,
the grass snuggles under,
a blanket of leaves,
as the tree grows bear at last.

Squirrels can be seen,
scurrying about,
collecting food for the winter,
one climbs up a hollow tree,
a stack of nuts peeks out from behind her.

the honking of geese,
can be heard from above,
chatting endlessly as they fly,
almost as if they too are remembering,
memories of a summer gone by.

Some children play while others work,
raking the endless leaves,
mothers bundle them up warmly,
in coats, sweaters, and flease.

Autumn is a beautiful season,
filled with gold, silver and bronze,
I only hope its beauty stays frozen,
in my mind, forever and always....

There will be a short delay
while I ponder the meaning of "LA"
Oh, is that Language Arts--I say!
This old lady's been too long away :)

Now there's one I'd love to see--
a polar bear growing from a tree!
Meanwhile, squirrels run everywhere
'cause with no nuts, their cupboards would be bare

Children with flease?!
Call the insect police!
As if it isn't bad enough
to deal with lice as crawling stuff
Now, fleas?
Oh, please!
Methinks you'd all be better off
In clothes of fleece, so cuddly soft

When I was your age, and worlds away
in piles of leaves we used to play
How I miss that autumn day
now that deafening machines blow leaves away
They still use rakes? Oh, lucky you!
Wish they'd do that around here, too!

Enjoy the beauty of golden fall
as you go to hear the shofar's call
And hail those geese along the way
as you head to shul, your prayers to say
Dip your apple in the honey
while the days are still a bit sunny
And let me wish you, small or tall,
A sweet new year to one and all

YOU ARE ALL SO CRUEL!!!!!

Here I am, the only one in the class who actually WRITES SOMETHING DOWN durin LA, and you tear it to pieces!! Seriously! Cut me some slack! Just because everyone else in the universe is ten years older than me does NOT give them the right to discredit my poem-writing capabilities!!

Okay, it was write a poem or put down what you would do $5,000,000,000. So yeah.

Please forgive me for having hurt your feelings. That was certainly not my intention. Do keep up the poetry-writing--that was a nice poem. May you have an easy fast.
